A Bit About Us
Colonisation
Capalia is an organic farm, set within secluded olive groves and terraces of figs, pomegranate and carob tress. Steep terraces give us uninterrupted views of the sea and we can see the churning white horses of the waves or the calm oily surface of a hot summer day. We are sheltered from behind by hills peppered with small villages that lead up to the Monte Stella, whose summit of 1,100m is only 20km from the coast.
Capalia has been our family home since 2001, carefully restored from a precarious roofless shell. We kept as much original brickwork as was feasible, trying to respect the features of the farmhouse as well as making it comfortable for a young family. We lived in our camper van on the land at first, and then moved into a palatial 3 compartment tent, while the work was done. Our children went to the local primary school in Pollica and played amongst the rubble and the olive trees, and eventually lived in our beautiful home. We gradually converted the land to its certified organic state.
Olive oil is our main produce, and this website is a chance to show how and where our golden liquid is produced. We will also give insights into the Cilento region that we have explored and grown to love, introduce products made with delicious and organic local produce, as well as tantalise your taste buds with interesting recipes.
