Pollica to Celso

  • 1 hour round trip

  • Easy & relatively flat

This is a short and easy walk with lovely views that winds along a relatively flat mountain path, from the Convento (Franciscan Monastery) in Pollica to Celso.  You can return along the road to vary it or just back on yourself.

Start from Pollica town square and go up the stairs past the Castello and continue up the stairs to the road. Turn right towards the Convento and just before the church façade; turn left up a well sign posted sign. Continue until you reach the small, pretty village of Celso. For a slight detour to visit an ancient fountain, turn right in the first square you reach and follow the road for a few hundred metres.  Return to the square and continue through the town to the main square.  If you want to walk home along a different route then continue along the bridge and turn left back onto the road. Follow this back to Pollica. There will not be much traffic and the road passes some lovely chestnut woods.

Alternatively, you can continue straight after the bridge that leaves Celso and continue on to the village of Galdo.
